• The three laboratory rooms DE16a, DE16b and DE17 provide a total of 53 PC/hybrid workstations and 50 seats for seminars and teamwork.
  • The rooms are connected by glass doors, allowing classes and other activities to use multiple rooms when required.
  • Fast Wi-Fi and power sockets for users’ own laptops are available in all three rooms.

The Software Engineering Lab (SWE) is located in rooms DE16a, DE16b and DE17 on the ground floor of Building D (Haus Bauwesen) at Berliner Hochschule für Technik (BHT). It is part of Department VI – Computer Science and Media.

Room DE16a provides 26 PC/hybrid workstations, while room DE16b provides 27. The lab PCs run Debian Linux and are connected to powerful terminal servers. This provides high computing performance while keeping heat and noise levels low.

The height-adjustable 32-inch monitors can be used either with the lab PCs or with users’ own laptops via USB-C. When the lab PC is switched off, a connected laptop can use the display, mouse and keyboard and receive charging power through a single USB-C cable.

All lab PCs are connected to the internet and the laboratory’s local network. Users sign in with their BHT account (HRZ) and can access their personal data from any workstation.

For examinations, the lab PCs can be operated in a Moodle-based exam mode with restricted network access.

Rooms DE16a and DE16b also have an 85-inch wall-mounted display each. Wired HDMI and USB-C connections are available, as well as wireless screen sharing for Windows and macOS.

Room DE17 can be used for classes, seminars, meetings and small-team collaboration. Wi-Fi and laptop power sockets are available at every workspace.

The lecture area has an 86-inch Full HD display with HDMI and USB-C connectivity.

Each of the three team tables in the project area has a 55-inch display with HDMI and USB-C connectivity. The USB-C connections support Power Delivery of up to 60 watts.

The conference area has an additional 55-inch display. It provides HDMI and USB-C connections and can be used in either landscape or portrait orientation. Its USB-C connection does not currently provide charging power.
