The laboratory is located on the ground floor of Building D (Haus Bauwesen), in rooms DE16a, DE16b and DE17. The rooms are connected by glass doors, allowing classes and other activities to use multiple rooms when required.

The laboratory provides a total of 53 PC/hybrid workstations and up to 50 seats for seminars and teamwork. Fast Wi-Fi and power sockets for laptops are available in all three rooms.

The Linux PCs in DE16a and DE16b are connected to powerful terminal servers. This provides high computing performance while keeping heat and noise levels low.

All lab PCs are connected to the internet and the laboratory’s local network. Users sign in with their BHT account (HRZ) and can access their personal data from any workstation.

Room DE17

Room DE17 contains areas for classes, seminars, project work and meetings.

The lecture area provides:

  • an 86-inch Full HD display with HDMI and USB-C connectivity
  • Wi-Fi and power sockets for laptops

The project area has three group-work tables for four to six people each. Every table provides:

  • a wall-mounted 55-inch display
  • HDMI and USB-C connectivity
  • USB-C Power Delivery of up to 60 watts
  • power sockets for laptops

The conference area has an additional table for six to eight people. It is equipped with a rotatable 55-inch Samsung The Frame display. The display provides HDMI and USB-C connections and can be used in either landscape or portrait orientation. Its USB-C connection does not currently provide charging power.

Exam Mode for Tests and Examinations

For Moodle-based tests and examinations, an exam mode with restricted network access is available on the Linux PCs. This differs from Safe Exam Browser, which is not available on Linux.
