Interesting facts about working in the lab
- During laboratory exercises and lectures, everyone who is not taking part in the course must clear their workstations. Exceptions are regulated by the responsible teacher.
- Free laboratory work is possible at the times noted in the timetable as “free practice” or in exceptional cases by personal arrangement with the laboratory staff.
- Clothing, bags and other items may only be taken into the laboratory with the permission of the laboratory staff. The Berliner Hochschule für Technik accepts no liability for theft of or damage to items taken into the laboratory!
- Eating, drinking and smoking as well as the depositing of food and liquids of any kind is prohibited in the entire laboratory area. All waste must be disposed of immediately in the bins provided.
- Software configurations must not be changed, software must not be copied and proprietary software must not be installed. Copying commercial software is not permitted!
- Interface connections may only be established or disconnected on the instructions of the laboratory staff or the responsible teacher and only when the equipment is switched off. The connection of personal devices (e.g. notebooks) to the power supply or network in the laboratory requires the approval of the laboratory staff.
- Any disconnected connections of laboratory equipment must always be restored.
- After finishing work in the laboratory, switch off the equipment, i.e. log off and shut down the computer and switch off the projector if necessary.
- Windows must be closed again at the end of the course. Curtains and blinds must be operated properly, in case of doubt by the teacher or laboratory staff.
- Changing the seating is only permitted in exceptional cases by instruction of the lecturer. The original condition of the seating must always be restored after the course.
- Unless otherwise stated, exceptions apply only to laboratory personnel.
Security
- Damaged equipment and cables must not be used and must be reported to the laboratory staff.
- Fire extinguishers are located in the corridor. Please observe the signs.
- Accidents of any kind must be reported immediately!
- Report an accident either to the teacher responsible, the laboratory staff or the secretary's office.
- Accidents at work are insured. You have the right to demand that every accident is reported to the UKB (Unfallkasse Berlin) by the Berliner Hochschule für Technik.
- Accident report forms are available from the department secretariat or from SI/UMI (Safety and Environmental Engineer).
- Pay attention to the escape route signs on main corridors or landings so that you can quickly find the correct and safe exit in the event of danger.
- Regulations from higher-level bodies such as the building management, the faculty or the university must be observed.
Lost property
- Please hand in any items you find to the laboratory staff, the secretary's office or the porter.
- In case of doubt, lost property can be found at the building management.
